Jokosher

Jokosher is a multi-track music editor. The interface uses familiar concepts to musicians rather than relying on their knowledge of multi-track recorders. Guitarists and other players who don't want to spend the funds or the time to learn the ins and outs of multi-tracking will appreciate this software. The idea of Jokosher is to be able to ignore the software and be able to concentrate on your music.
You're not limited to just one instrument with Jokosher. You can add an audio file of your own or someone else's, drums, bass, cello, cymbals just by clicking it in the selection box. You can also solo the instruments or mute them. You'll have tools for moving and trimming and splitting during the editing process. VU sliders control the volumes during mixing. And you can import audio in WAV, MP3, FLAC or Ogg Vorbis formats. You can also export your finished product back to any of these.
In the edit mode, the audio is broken into blocks that you can split and move by click/drag, you can trim and discard blocks or duplicate them and place them wherever you like. You can also copy and paste them for repetitive riffs or fills where needed.
And since Jokosher is open source, what you see is only what you get at the moment. New contributions from musicians and programmers around the globe are added as they're developed. Once you download Jokosher you'll want to check periodically for all the improvements and new features being added or even make some yourself.
