I've used phpbb since version 2.0.10. The recent release of phpbb 3.0.0 is a long anticipated and much welcomed release. It easily updated by phpbb2 forum, adding several new features, such as sub-forums, attachments, simple user, moderator, and administrator pages.

Excellent bulletin board system. The package is meant to be highly customizable, which can be a deterrent to some new to the field. However, the online support community is outstanding and the documentation is great.
