PowerDVD was one of the first software based DVD players on the market. It gained enormous momentum by being bundled with many DVD-ROM drive manufactures products - and today offers many more features than just DVD playback. PowerDVD offer crystal clean playback of DVDs as well as other media/formats including DivX/MPEG4.
