As a matter of personal preference, I prefer SharpDevelop to Visual Studio. It has enough features to make coding easier without the Visual Studio overhead.

I was extremely impressed with how well SharpDevelop integrates unit testing, code coverage, refactoring and so many other features. It really is a great alternative to Visual Studio, definitely runs circles around the Express editions.

I prefer this to visual studio, its lightweight enough on cpu and ram to run alongside anything else that needs to be done and the whole download is under 9mb! Lots of features to allow rapid coding.
