I cannot rate this program highly because I could not install it. Although the finished products created by synfig.com are quite impressive, downloading and installing the program itself are a harrowing task for someone who is not an advanced computer user. Merely downloading the program itself proved difficult because among all of the choices, I had no idea what to download. Unsure of what to do, I downloaded all three of the Windows XP Programs, to match my operating system. After installing all three to my computer,I could not open the Synfig icon. My computer is very equipped to handle nearly any newer program out, and I even tried it on my older Computer, and neither worked.

There's some bullshit ancient library you need for it that can't seem to be found anywhere any more. I don't get why people make these things then don't offer a complete package with everything you need so you don't have to be a rocket scientist to download it let alone use it.

I was actually able to install it on my new pc...for a short while, then it crashed one day throwing an error suggesting a reinstall. reinstalled it and it failed to work.

Money seems to make the web go around, I think if more windows users donated, they would stablize a xp version rather quickly. They do this for free and yet they have to eat, so... I'm patient.

Hey guys! Chill out, they are not even ready for the public yet. It's only a dev preview, and its looks good. So just wait and see till then.

also figuring out which files are to be downloaded itself is rather confusing

I wish these issues would be aken care of, otherwise such great stuff would be lost to the open source world
