"X Window", not "X Windows"

I use it both with coLinux and PuTTY and it's awesome.

Based on the homepage it only supports 32-bit Windows. Major drawback if you like me uses Vista 64.

excellent "Open source" tool, Light weight tool....

given by Anonymous on July 29, 2008

It's open source, but in practice it is impossible to obtain the latest version without paying for it. The freely available version (nearly 1.5 years old) crashes on me all the time.

Open source on paper, payware in practice!

This is NOT open source. You cannot download the newest source of the software.

Rated 1 for not being truly open source.

"Rated 1 for not being truly open source." Same here, it'a shame, really!

BTW, I don't think that releasing the source of unreleased binaries is required by the GPL, so it's technically legal. However getting to be a "donor" and releasing what you got to the publoc afterwards would be 100% legal as well. I hope some "donor" reads the above sentence and gets the idea, that would force the author of the program to be a little more sensible. ;)

Small, quick, efficient, free

Choose all four, not only two.

Not open source!

There's plenty of real *Open source* ssh and putty stuff for MS-Windows on the market that it's simply not worth bothering with crap like Xming.

Very nice, still needs some polishing over the top to make it a straight away competitor to xmanager.

Hope ill work on it when i get some time.

It's commercial soft that hides behind Open Source + a forced "donor" for current releases. Regarding this distribution policy I will not even think about a donor and also will not give a single try to the 4 year old publicly available outdated version.

given by Anonymous on February 18, 2012

Not entirely open source.

given by Anonymous on April 12, 2012

Xming is not open source any more and should be removed.
