mIRC is by far the most well-known IRC (internet relay chat) client on the market - and it has been for more than a decade. mIRC allows you to chat with people all over the world through different servers or networks. On each network you can join a channel (topic) and start discussing with the people there. File transfer between other users is performed using DCC, which is a peer-to-peer file transfer mechanism.
Unicode support (UTF-8) ensure that mIRC can be used no matter which country our are from and which character set you use. Furthermore mIRC can be extended using scripting. The scripts allow you to build automated IRC services (bots) that you and other people can interact with. This could e.g. be simple games.
