Very basic, most seasoned access users will be disappointed. "reports" sets up a mail-merge in openoffice write! Still the "achilles heel" of linux for my organization.

Extremely slow. What a joke!

Way too slow, even with small databases. A good reason to use MS software.

I thought it was only slow because of my method of use (using usb drive), however, even after moving it to a spinning disk, it seemed very slow. Didn't really look to deep into it until I read these posts.

Overall, Access is easier to use and I think it's more versatile, but for the Price... Base is pretty good with basic functionality.

Base is no use to you if you need to email a database. Whereas Acess automatically offers to convert a database file into Excel for email, there is no such conversion in Base.

Open source rules... not. Opening Base (or OpenOffice.org for that matter) doesn't even bring up a window but miraculously manages to run invisibly and can only be found with the Task Manager. When clicking the icon and getting no response I though the program didn't load so imagine my suprise when I found 6 instances of OpenOffice running simultaneously. Even lovelier is assuming that the window pops up trying to create a new document in Base crashes the program.

I'll stick with Microsoft, thanks.

I have to agree with the majority of people here.

I gave base a shot as I was starting my own business. Creating forms and queries was nothing short of a nightmare! Bugs galore! with nothing working the way it should.

It's a shame, because the rest of OO is pretty decent.
