Quake is a first person shooter PC game series. The games in the series frequently change their focus, with all its games having different storylines. Quake is the adventures of a brave marine trying to prevent an interdimensional invasion as he travels through alternate realities.

Quake III Arena involves gladiator-style battle pitting various combatants against a race called the Vadrigar. Quake IV resolves the conflict between the Strogg and humans. There is also a spinoff called Enemy Territory: Quake Wars that serves as an introduction to Quake II, allowing the player to experience the first invasion of Earth by the Strogg.

Quake II does not have a complicated story line that it builds its action and environment on. The player's mission is an assault on the planet Stroggos, whose cybernetic inhabitants have attacked Earth. It can be played in multiplayer mode; gamers can go to Quake Live's site and be challenged by other players around the world.

This game has stunning visual effects and complex textures with beautiful architectural aspects. Levels are multi-sectioned, varying in style, setting and architecture. Rather than moving up separate levels you can move back and forth among a group of levels in the unit. This gives the player many opportunities for close quarter attacks, ambushes and sniping.

There are many challenges in the weapons, which all have their strengths and weaknesses. Some are hard to control while some are very accurate. Some are slow to stop firing and waste ammunition while others are hard to power up so you have to adjust your strategy accordingly.

To further enhance the Quake experience there is an Expansion Pak available that optimizes the graphics.
