one problem with gimpshop is the application is actually some sort of shell/UI in which gimp runs.

what i am unable to do is directly associate filetypes with gimpshop, since gimpshop doesn't handle files...gimp does...and associating them with gimp makes gimp try to open by itself and not within gimpshop.

They say it is supposed to look and feel almost the same as Photoshop. I don't think it is all that close. It is still a decent UI, it would just take some getting used to.

Quite good. It has essentially every feature that Photoshop has. Slightly clunky interface though.

Can't find or run pskeys.bat

given by Anonymous on August 15, 2008

doesn't seem to load layer masks from Photoshop-created files correctly

Can't work with pen-pad -- froze cursor.
It is GIMP, and such as gimp is not alternative for professional working.

No cmyk,
no lab,
no multichanel,
no dutone,
no 16-32 bit per channel,
no icm support,
no rip.

Why is Gimpshop listed here, but not GIMP? Gimpshop is quite
buggy and hasn't been updated for several years now. GIMP,
on the other hand, is regularly updated, works across all
three major platforms, and is truly open source.

BTW, the previous commenter, you obviously haven't seen GIMP
recently. Most of the issues you listed have been addressed
in recent releases of GIMP.

It doesnt let me use it. the progrma shuts down as soon as it is uploaded!

Would be (and was) great if it matched the current version of
gimp. But right now 2.6 is so much better than 2.2 that a few
menus out of order is not at all worth it

It seems as there has been no further development sinde may 2006? and this is only 2.2.11 for Linux and Mac...
The windowsversion is 2.2.8 is probably much older???
- Or am I wrong?

given by Rene Hojgaard Frederiksen / Hojgaard IT / www.hojgaardit.com on September 26, 2011

Hmm - I would like to have evaluated and (possibly) implemented it at a clients (school) computers.

However - after have seen the interface and browsed the forum, I have decided to turn my thumb down. It appears that there are several problemsm, and they are apparently not being fixed. Furthermore the forum is flooded by spam...

Just seems to be an installer for Gimp, with added crapware.

given by Will on November 27, 2013

Just Gimp, renamed to Gimpshop, with Adware installers.
Basically, they're redistributing Gimp with ads.

given by Anonymous on August 12, 2014

Just downloaded GimpShop, started installation, then anti-
virus (AVG) warned me it contained Malware!

AVOID!

Because of adware/malware virus scanner deletes the installer file before I even have a chance to give it a go.

hi,
Superb software.

I still cannot find pskeys.bat...
As I do not quite understand its use, I am not sure I should really run it. I suppose it would make the software look more like Phot*shop.
But in the end, how can we run pskeys or get the same result?

Many thanks to anybody who could telle me

given by Bob on November 6, 2020

It doesn't download Photogimp but just GIMP, and then the
Photoshop-like add-on has to be installed manually, provided
elsewhere, not at Gimpshop.com ??? That's a bit confusing
;-)
